About the Role

Total Wine & More is seeking a Sr. Associate Buyer, THC Beverages to join our Merchandising team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will support the development and execution of the THC canned beverage category in states where sale is legal. You will manage key supplier relationships, oversee new item processes, coordinate promotional and display activities, and analyze category performance to help achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing and dynamic category in a highly regulated industry. You will report to the Director, THC Beverages. 

You will

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with assigned suppliers, including communication on new products, forecasts, pricing, and promotional opportunities.
  • Oversee the new item setup process, ensuring timely and accurate product onboarding and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor category sales, margin, and inventory performance; prepare reporting and recommend adjustments to improve results.
  • Coordinate promotional activities, including in-store displays, signage, and digital marketing assets, working with Marketing, Store Operations, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain item data integrity in merchandising systems, including cost updates, assortment changes, and product status.
  • Support the execution of category strategies and seasonal programs, ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
  • Research consumer trends, market activity, and competitor assortments to identify growth opportunities.
  • Execute private label and direct business strategy through effective demand planning and assortment optimization, ensuring alignment with customer needs, supplier capabilities, and overall business goals.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to manage replenishment and inventory flow for assigned products.

You will come with

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or category management; experience in beverage alcohol, cannabis, or regulated consumer goods preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to interpret sales and market data to support recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 applications; experience with reporting and BI tools a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work with discretion in a highly regulated, evolving category.
