Associate II, Indirect Tax & Accounting

About the Role

Total Wine & More is seeking a Associate II, Indirect Tax Accounting to join our Finance/Accounting team in our Bethesda, MD office. . We are looking for someone ready to help streamline and grow a new consolidated Indirect Tax team alongside performing valuable Accounting Analyses to support our Chief Accounting Officer. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Indirect Tax. 

You will

• Provide Support for Indirect Tax (Sales/Use, Property, Tobacco) Filings and Compliance
• Perform Indirect Tax Research to ensure compliance
• Facilitate Peer Review Sessions to evaluate filings for accuracy prior to submission
• Source Raw data to perform important ad-hoc analyses on operating expenses (non-payroll overhead)
• Work cross-departmentally to solve complex accounting questions and evaluate solutions / solve variances

You will come with

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Mathematics or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
• MBA is a plus
• Up to 1 year of experience in either an Accounting, Tax, or a similar financial analysis role
• CPA certification is a plus
• Experience in Indirect Tax functions is a plus
• Experience in Retail or Multi-Location Services is a plus
• Experience querying information from an enterprise data system
• Ability to work cross-functionally / cross-departmentally
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) & MS Teams
• MS Excel Intermediate – Advanced Proficiency preferred
• SQL / Python is a plus
• Experience with Lawson is a plus
• Experience with Vertex (or other large tax engine) is a plus
