About the Role
Total Wine & More is seeking an Associate Buyer, Spirits to join our growing Merchandising team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will support the Spirits buying team by managing item setup, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations, and assisting in supplier relationship management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly Supply Chain and Category Management, to ensure smooth product launches and efficient inventory management. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to deepen their expertise in Spirits buying, with a focus on brand story creation, new item set-up, and maintaining strong supplier partnerships. In this role you will report to the Sr. Director, Spirits.
You will
- Assist the Spirits buying and sourcing teams with managing product lifecycles, ensuring smooth processes from new item creation to ongoing item maintenance
 - Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate item set up in our assortment
 - Coordinate the compliance process for new items, working cross-functionally to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met
 - Support the development and refinement of brand stories for new and existing products to enhance marketing and customer-facing content
 - Maintain and update electronic files, ensuring all product and supplier data is accurate and up to date
 - Work with internal teams to address and resolve any outstanding issues related to product availability, ordering, or store execution
 - Prepare meeting agendas, reports, and other materials as needed for team updates, conferences, or supplier meetings
 - Communicate weekly reports to internal teams to track product performance and project progress
 
You will come with
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Merchandising, or a related field preferred
 - Less than 1 year Experience in retail buying, merchandising, or a similar role
 - Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
 - A passion for the Spirits and Alcoholic Beverage industry, with an eagerness to learn more about product development and sourcing
 - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
 - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with retail merchandising tools or systems a plus
